With over 30 years of broad orthopaedic experience in private practice and more than two decades of medico-legal reporting, Dr Brazel continues to offer independent medical assessments, permanent impairment reports, and orthopaedic expertise to legal, insurance, and government bodies across Queensland.
Dr Peter Brazel retired after more than 30 years in surgical private practice at Pring Street Specialist Centre, 9 Pring Street, Ipswich, where he built a reputation for broad orthopaedic expertise and genuine care for his patients and the wider community.
Awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic) in 1993, Dr Brazel's career has spanned trauma, elective orthopaedic surgery, medico-legal reporting, surgical training, and international humanitarian outreach.
He remains active as a Senior Visiting Medical Officer at Ipswich General Hospital, operating one day per week and running orthopaedic outpatient clinics, where he continues to mentor orthopaedic registrars and shape the next generation of Australian surgeons.

Served as a Royal Australasian College of Surgeons orthopaedics examiner for nine years.
Led annual AOA orthopaedic missions to Suva, Fiji every year since 2010.
Since 2001, Dr Brazel has been a member of the Q-Com (Orthopaedic) Assessment Tribunal and regularly conducts independent medical assessments and permanent impairment evaluations.
He prepares reports for a wide range of clients and has completed formal training in the Queensland Guidelines for permanent impairment evaluation across the upper extremity, lower extremity, and spine.
His unique qualifications come from 32 years of wide-ranging orthopaedic experience across trauma, elective surgery, and complex patient presentations — providing the depth and credibility that medico-legal reporting demands.

For 14 years, Dr Brazel has led an orthopaedic outreach team to Suva, Fiji as part of the Australian Orthopaedic Association's annual humanitarian program — bringing skilled volunteer surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, and allied health professionals to the Pacific Islands.
Treating trauma, infection, tumours, and congenital conditions such as clubfoot that would otherwise go untreated.
Teaching and training local medical personnel to build lasting knowledge and surgical capability within Fiji.
Working alongside local leaders and doctors to ensure long-term, independent community health outcomes.
The program is a non-profit initiative supported by the McBain Foundation,
the Australian Orthopaedic Association, and generous donations.
Funding covers medical equipment, consumables, and travel for volunteer experts.
